Dr Bryan Betty to take up new role with GPNZ
Dr Bryan Betty has resigned from his role of Medical Director of 澳门六合彩app下载 and will take up a new role as Chair of General Practice New Zealand (GPNZ).
Dr Samantha Murton, College President says, 鈥淏ryan and I have become a great team as we鈥檝e worked together over the last three and half years, navigating the membership through the COVID-19 pandemic and through our fierce advocating for the general practice and rural hospital workforce.
鈥淭his role will be a fresh challenge for him and a move that will give some stability to the sector as we continue to transition into the new health system, and I look forward to seeing him continue to address the issues impacting general practice and primary care.鈥
Dr Betty takes over the role of GPNZ Chair from Karori GP Dr Jeff Lowe who is stepping down after seven years following his appointment to the Board of Te Whatu Ora.
Dr Lowe says, 鈥淎fter an external recruitment process which attracted exceptional candidates, we agreed that there was no-one better equipped than Bryan to lead GPNZ through this next crucial phase.
鈥淏ryan's highly respected clinical leadership, strong relationships with politicians and other national decision-makers, and drive for equity and excellence will ensure GPNZ continues to develop as a trusted and influential voice on behalf of primary care.鈥
College CE Lynne Hayman echoes Dr Murton鈥檚 sentiments, saying, 鈥淏ryan鈥檚 unwavering dedication to the medical director role has been invaluable. His enthusiasm and guidance will be missed but we wish him well in his new role and will no doubt have the opportunity to work together again as both organisations strive to support high quality general practice.鈥
Bryan's priority in the coming weeks will be to meet with the GPNZ Executive and member CEOs and to engage with sector leaders in his new role.
Dr Betty鈥檚 last day with the College will be Friday 10 March and he will start his GPNZ role immediately after.
